Landscape photographer based in Germany

My name is Cindy Mosig and I am a photographer and volunteer firefighter based in Germany.

In the summer of 2018, my hometown suffered several and large wildfires. Brandenburg, which is the region where I live, is known for its well-preserved natural environment, having 15 protected areas. Each of them is provided with safe-financed administration and park ranger staff, who guide visitors and work to ensure nature conservation.

Yet, our environmental policies are not able to stop visitor’s left overs such as plastic bottles or aluminum foil which can cause great wildfires. So to me it is important to remain active in order to protect my hometown and its nature. As a volunteer firefighter I got to witness the devastating effects of our actions, which have direct consequences in our current environment and future well-being. As I continue to learn about nature and the ways we can all contribute to its protection, I try to capture what in my opinion are special moments in the wild.

"I want to bring my audience as close as possible to nature so they can also see how special our Earth and its creatures are."
"So to me photography is a huge tool. More than that, is it my passion!"

I use photography to raise awareness about our environmental challenges, but also as a way to convey my emotions and hold memories. To be honest, I find a lot of personal satisfaction waking up early to contemplate the sunrise and capture photos. Being able to create a small piece of art from such moments makes the overall experience almost magical, especially if my partner @annasoph_ku and our dog join the adventure as well.

If you think about it, we don’t need to look far to find the beauty. Every day we can find small miracles all around us, but we simply need to go outside and take a look around at all of the great creation to which we belong.

"On earth there is no heaven, but there are pieces of it!"
