Travel and street photographer based in the US

My name is John Wu and I am a travel and street photographer based in Los Angeles, California, on a journey to capture the world through my lens. When I was eight years old, my uncle handed me a camera to hold on a trip to New Mexico. It was the first time I ever snapped a photograph. However, it wasn’t until a trip to Vietnam with friends that both traveling and photography became intoxicating! I hadn’t picked up a camera again until that trip, but when the beautiful landscapes and cultural differences left me speechless, my camera helped supply the words I was unable to say.

"It’s a surreal feeling being in a constant state of awe and traveling feeds my innate curiosity about the world."

I feel compelled to explore the unknown and to embrace new opportunities. Moments are fleeting, but photos are immortal. When I’m sharing a photograph, I believe it’s more than just a picture, it’s a collection of beautiful coincidences that lead to the creation of that moment. I share these moments with people all over the world and it’s like they’re sharing these experiences with me.

My reasons to continue pursuing photography include being able to see the world while documenting life (the good and the bad) and to find and express myself through this art and my work. I may come across new reasons through my travels but one reason stays certain; to share with the world what the world has shared with me.

Moments are worth capturing so I believe they don’t need to be changed nor experienced again. I’m focused on the present so the perfect photo never slips away. Life is about having the courage to face the unknown and I believe going back in time spoils the memories carried with you.

"Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and make waves. You never know where you’ll land!"
