Adventure photographer based in France

My name is Atef Talbi and I am an adventure and landscape photographer based in Paris, France. Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been passionate about travel stories and explorers’ adventures. When I started traveling, it became obvious to me to capture these unique moments and places by taking pictures and writing stories.

I would love to go back to my first experience in Iceland. I arrived to the island after a couple of weeks spent in the Arctic. Moving from minimalistic landscapes of ice and rocks to the surreal colors and mountains of Iceland was a huge aesthetic shock. It took me 22 days of loneliness to walk the 550 km from the northernmost point to southernmost point of the island. The physical challenge and the difficult weather conditions were an amazing inspiration and catalyst in my photography.

Crossing Iceland from North to South alone during 22 days, sailing to Antarctica, and hiking in Patagonia and Siberia have been among my best photographic journeys, because I feel like I deserved every single shot I took in these harsh environments.

"I have been to Chile and Patagonia twice, where the light is so soft and the Andes mountain range is so impressive."

Unlike the Argentinian side, the Chilean side of Patagonia is greener and wilder. During my first trip, I hiked in Torres Del Paine National Park and photographed these huge peaks above turquoise water lakes. The second time, Tierra Del Fuego was the starting point of my sailing expedition to Antarctica. Puerto Williams is supposed to be the southernmost city of the planet, but all I can remember is that it looked like the absolute edge of the world and that the human presence was negligible. The channels, the fjords, and the mountains seemed eternal.

"Nowadays, as you can imagine, my favorite subject to portray is wild nature with cloudy dramatic and colorful skies crossed by sunlight rays."

I first started sharing my photographs on social media platforms so that my friends and family can follow my adventures. I quickly realized the impact that my pictures and stories had on people I don’t even know. This was the turning point where I understood that with my photographs, I can share with a large audience my passion for nature and remote regions.

"Wildness reminds us what it means to be human, what we are connected to rather than what we are separate from."
