Are you becoming a landscape photographer?

Here are some essential tips!

Along the last year some of the most inspiring landscape photographers have shared with us more than 100 tips. It is quite hard to put all the advices together in one post, so here are the first highlights by @philngyn, @joonaslinkola and @hym.1! Together, they have more than 300,000 followers on Instagram!

Networking and gear, by HymChu (@hym.1)

Connect with professional photographers both online and offline. Meet and organize photo tours together so you can benefit from the exchange with the photographer(s). Then you can study his or her work: look at their angles and compositions, how they use light and change their depth of field in their photographs in real time.

Also, take into account that good photography equipment won’t make you a good photographer. If you just learn photography, then the top-rated camera may be a waste of your money, which may make your learning process too cumbersome and complicated. You have to think about the compositions instead.

Know-How, by Joonas Linkola (@joonaslinkola)

Take your time and move around the subject, get to know the various angles and find your unique perspective. This is how approach almost very project.

Only include the most important subjects in the photograph and give them enough space. Having unnecessary objects in the frame may lead the viewers attention to something unintended. Often concise and simple stories are more engaging.

Expose according to the most important subject inside the picture. If your subject is a person, then you have to have the perfect light on that particular individual. The question you should ask yourself is:

What is the most important thing inside the picture? That is, in the end, the core of the story.

Mindset and social Media, by Phil Nguyen (@philngyn)

Be kind to those you encounter and be thankful for every opportunity that comes your way. Every opportunity that has come my way has been a total blessing and learning experience. Being thankful and kind will always help make you a better person.

Also, you should bear in mind that social media has definitely made photography and videography a lot more popular and has created tons of opportunities for the modern creator.

“It’s given photographers a chance to market their work without the middle man and reach out directly to their audience.”

Traditional distributions channels have been disrupted by the Internet and never has there been a better time in history to take the leap and make a name for yourself.
