Landscape photographer based in Switzerland
Thanks to my parents, who traveled around the world when they were younger, I quickly understood the joy of traveling. At the age of 10, I made my first long trip to India en Nepal. It’s there that I took my first photos and discovered my passion for travel. I still remember the incredible landscapes I saw during our trek in Nepal. One of my most precious memories is the moment I arrived first at the basement camp after a 9 hour hike, together with the guide of the course. I adapted to his rhythm and during the whole hike I didn’t feel tired, just very excited. When I got to the top I felt super happy and proud. Since that day I love hiking in the mountains.

I created an Instagram account together with my girlfriend. Each of us shared photos on the same account that we named ‘the fulfillment’. This name motivated us to go wherever we wanted to, fulfilling our dreams. The spirit as a couple is still the same, but at some point we converted the account into a gallery of my personal photographic work. This all went very naturally, uploading more and more travel and landscape photos which the community seemed to like. Having an Instagram account and a portfolio on Instagram is an advantage as a photographer, not just to show your work, but also to interact with likeminded people. We recently created a group of Swiss photographers on Instagram and I am delighted participating in this new adventure.
Nowadays, lots of people have a drone and it seems to become a necessity to possess one as a photographer. Although it really provides some amazing perspectives and possibilities and it definitely took photography to another level, I still favor my camera. I find that it’s more easy to capture emotion. A drone can capture immensities that you can only perceive from the air, but with a camera you can focus better on details and take up compositions that convey emotion. It’s also different because you really live the photo and the emotion yourself, which is not the case when using a drone. Normally when I take the photo I already have an idea of how I would want the photo to be so afterwards I work towards reaching that idea as close as possible.
As for colors, the seasons quite influence my ideas and results; using more blue and grey tones in winter while more colorful tones in autumn. In general though I tend to go for blue and grey tones as they somehow always inspire me. Photographers that I particularly have been admiring and been inspired by are using these tones as well. I believe it brings a certain harmony to my work and for me that’s very important; I want to create a togetherness among all my photos.

First because it was a dream to be able to visit this incredible land but also because it was a trip I did together with wonderful people that I got to know thanks to Instagram and who have now become friends. Of course the Island is a popular destination but that was not bothering me at all. It’s very easy to ignore other tourists because the landscapes are so impressive and overwhelming. When you have a good vehicle and drive around for a bit you will easily find yourself all alone in the middle of idyllic landscapes. It’s also an Island that’s being photographed and shared very often but neither this was an issue for me.

Anyway, even if photos look the same, I know that these photos are mine and I have my own memories attached to my photos. These memories pop up in my mind regularly and have a positive influence on my day. Almost daily I memorize my trip to the north of Bali; when I close my eyes I see myself walking on the volcanic beach with my feet through the water. For a few seconds I can escape from the stress of everyday life going back there.

It also gives me another way to develop my artistic mind besides music, which I practice a lot too. And last but not least, it allows me to discover gorgeous places in my own country, Switzerland, and all over the world. I can’t wait to make new memories and photos on our long travel to Mexico that we have in mind for next year. The diversity of its land, the culture and gastronomy attract us a lot and that’s what we are usually looking for on our travels: The unknown.
