My name is Tycjan Trzpioła, a creative and professional filmmaker, photographer and drone pilot with eight years of experience. I still remember the day I got my first camera: I bought it abroad with the first money I earned and I was impatient to use it. I didn’t know which direction in photography I was going, but I knew that I wanted to meet people and see places all over the world while capturing all these moments that I would experience.

At the beginning, it was not easy at all to include photography and travel in my life the way I wanted, as I had my studies and a lack of money for travelling. Graduating was the highest priority for me back then and after finishing my studies as a computer graphic designer, I abandoned photography and film to start ‘real life’. I learnt a lot from other people and I developed a special attention to the aesthetics of the things I was creating as a graphic designer. I stayed in this job for 4 years… but then the longing for freedom and traveling came back.

"And this is how it’s started."
"Photography and later filming allowed me to make my dreams come true."

I’ve visited 20 countries with my cameras. I flew the drone in the Alps and Lofoten, I filmed wildlife in Namibia and the entrance to Kilimanjaro and I have been creating visual content for both small and large companies. In cooperation with various clients,  I travel to create the right content for them. It is really hard work that requires constant focus and looking for the right places and frames, but thanks to that, my work is never monotonous and I love that. This was what I was dreaming about before, and I am happy that now I can say that filming and photographing, either with camera or drone, make up my ‘real life’.

"After shooting, I love the editing part so I can incorporate in the photo what I have seen with my own eyes, or what I imagine of a certain place and the feeling it gave me."

For example, if I feel like darker tones fit better with the photo, I just do it. I also try to experiment with gear and with different tools to create the image that best represents as how I have it in mind. But of course it’s not just simply about traveling, shooting and editing; I also dedicate time to learning and networking. The best way to learn is by interpersonal contact, I believe. When working together, experiences are being exchanged and you both grow that way. So although I like to travel alone, I also invite other creators from my industry to cooperate with me. Besides, I ask for feedback and I listen to comments on my projects, about what can I improve, what to try etc. Of course, this also works the other way around. Honestly, I barely use electronic sources to improve my skills because I just don’t have time for it and I guess I prefer by different means, such as going outside to shoot together with others.

I guess that my most favourite places on earth for photography are Canada and the Lofoten in Norway. First of all, the wild nature in these countries is simply impressive. Secondly, the views and landscapes themselves. Every photo taken there can immediately be used for a postcard. That is of course why these countries are so popular among photographers and travelers. It’s always more challenging for a photographer to capture stunning images that stand out among all the photos already shared from these places. I love this challenge, and since I got myself a drone there are much more opportunities to photograph places from unique perspectives.

"In travel photography, there are a lot more challenges one may need to face, on the photography side as well as the travel side."

Usually challenges lead to something beautiful, and I would definitely affirm that. Thanks to photography and film, I opened myself up to other people, to nature and to myself.  I have become more sensitive, and I feel no fear of travelling. I also discovered that every dream can come true, but we must want it badly!
