Best of the week 52 at #nomadict

I come from Bandung, West Java. There is a lot of natural beauty here and that both creates and attracts great photographers. Bandung is often visited by tourists as it’s not far from Jakarta. In contrast to the crowded capital city, Bandung is refreshing, natural and also known as ‘flower city’. There are many things in Bandung that inspire me: Besides its natural beauty, such as waterfalls and mountains, Bandung also has a rich culture in terms of local art, musical instruments and language, which makes me feel even more in love with my own country and which is why I choose to live here.

"With my photography I want to introduce the beauty of nature in my native land to the world; I hope to attract many local and foreign tourists to Bandung."

Initially, I just loved to see good photos of other people. My interest in photography grew after which I tried to enter the world of photography myself; I studied it extensively and now photography is my side job. My interest in photography led me to traveling, because these two things are interrelated. I have always been enthusiastic about being outdoors though, it’s kind of logic to love to be outside when you are surrounded by nature as we have here in Bandung. When I was 15 I started climbing mountains, hiking up hills and discovering forests and waterfalls.

"I succeeded to turn my creativity into a job and I keep learning, optimizing each of my next art works."

Everyday I look for creative ideas, new concepts, new places and beauty, because inspiration is everywhere. My passion for travel and photography make me happy; I get to know new people which lead to new experiences every time. I love discovering new spots, appreciating the difference of each place, in each season. Traveling is not always easy as it often comes with fatigue, but it fulfills me with satisfaction, it’s a dream coming true. I try to maximize each trip by combining it with photography: I capture moments in life because I don’t want to age without stories.

"To continue developing my photography skills, I joined the local community and participate in several accounts that inspire me about travel photography."

I learn many things from other members and I apply it when going out to shoot. For my own account, I try to create a photo gallery harmonious in color; especially green, because green has the meaning of Fertility, Freshness, Peace and Balance. It looks more presentable, it characterizes my work and by editing my photos I can tell a story, convey an impression of the moment so the photo is understood. That’s also why I like sharing my work, because I hope others enjoy watching and ‘reading’ my photos, just like I enjoy doing that with photos of others.

Our time is precious and I now know how I want to spend this time. Thanks to photography, I have found new friends from different provinces in Indonesia, discovered historical places and got to know about other cultures in Indonesia and abroad. It made me pay more attention to the details of nature and care more about the environment. And above all, it gave me another way to communicate. To me, travel, nature and photography are united: A difficult road will always teach me something, and take me to a beautiful destination to appreciate and to photograph. It’s the interconnectivity between the three that is so powerful.
