Is it also your dream to turn photography into a full-time job?
With Nathaël Labat (@northernelg)
"My name is Nathaël and I am a 19 years-old photographer from France. Luckily I can say that I have traveled a lot for the last ten years!"
Actually, my teenage years were full of road-trips with my parents, something I am really grateful for.
We were traveling during school holidays mainly, it was an awesome time! Honestly, I feel very lucky to have been able to explore our world at such a young age. After these many road trips, I ended up having a special interest in photography.
"Among all the destinations I have visited, the Lofoten Islands are by far my favorite place in the world!"
Peaceful and wonderful are the two words that best describe this location. It’s a dream destination for photographers as you can find multiple and unique landscapes all around the islands. I really like to go there during the summer season because you get to witness the midnight sun. There’s nothing more pleasant as a photographer than hiking at midnight when the sun never sets and getting that perfect light for 4 hours in a row!
"Preikestolen certainly stands out!"
This place seems unreal, so it is quite amazing to count with it in our world! I remember that time when we hiked this gorgeous peak to catch the blue hour. When we arrived to the top, we were so lucky because we had this place for ourselves. In my opinion, this spot showcases perfectly how small we are compared to nature. It’s a must-do if you’re around!
I bought my very first camera in 2015, when I was 15 years old. Like everyone, I started to watch tutorials on YouTube on how to use a DSLR and it was pretty easy. Then, I discovered Instagram!
I started to share my own travel memories on this social media platform after I discovered @jannikobenhoff ‘s work. He was capturing amazing photographs, so he was an incredible inspiration to me back then.
Today, photography is still my passion, although not my full time job. I am studying economics but I intend to turn this passion into a full-time career in the future. Instagram has taken a huge place in my daily life. It’s an important source of inspiration for any photographer out there and it’s so easy to share you work with millions of people.
If I could give some advices to beginner photographers, I would say: Shoot as much as possible, that’s how you’ll improve your skills. Also, try to shoot mostly during sunrise/sunset. You get the best light, it makes your photos look 10 times better!
