About “Fuego Volcano, Guatemala” and Diego Rizzo
Fuego volcano is one of the active volcanoes in Guatemala. I recently camped on volcano Acatenango, where you have the best view of Fuego. I captured the winning photo inside my tent because of the rain, which was quite heavy where we camped.
Volcán de Fuego, on the other hand, was clear, so I wrapped a plastic bag around the lens and camera, waiting for the moment the volcano erupted, and then it happened! The rain, the excitement, and the lava gave me an incredible moment and an impressive photograph! Watching the lava flying into the air and capturing its trail with my camera was so awesome.
I was using a 70-200mm lens as I wanted to go tight and capture the details of the explosion and lava. That is also why I decided to shoot vertically. While editing, I had to desaturate the colors slightly, decrease the highlights, and contrast using the curves tool. I did not do anything too special on the edition. The real challenge is to correctly expose the photo and be ready for when the explosion happens; the lava overexposes the images pretty quickly.”
