Landscape and travel photographer based in Sweden

As far as I can remember I’ve always had the passion for travelling. I started ‘collecting’ countries already as a kid. For me travelling is in a way part of a lifelong education. I have a curious mind and I am interested in learning about and understanding the world around me. Through travelling, I feel I can learn and grow. My interest in photography is something that has developed over time. I guess I have always tried to document my travels through photography and even through diaries at times. But it is not until the last few years that I’ve become truly serious about my photography.

"I can let myself be ‘consumed’ by photography, by scouting the best shooting spots, by getting out in nature (or cities for that matter) to shoot, and by the whole editing process."

For me photography is creative work, which is totally opposed to what I do for my regular work. It’s a way to unwind. Photography is an integral part of my life now, although I have never done it for commercial purposes. That might change in the future, but for now I like to be entirely free in my creative process. One of the advantages of being that free is that I have all the time and space to experiment with different conditions and settings. Dedicating time to this allowed me to ameliorate my skills, which are all self taught so far. I’m not very technical as a photographer, but rather use trial and error to get the desired results. I find inspiration from other photographers that I look up to and try things out by myself.

"One great thing with photography and social media is that you connect with people that share the same passion, people you would never get to know otherwise."

This also influences my shooting and editing style, as it keeps me evolving and continuously improving. Early on, when I took up photography, I did a lot of long exposures and macros. I also used quite a saturated colour range that made a ‘romantic’ version of reality. Today I tend to use more wide angles (and a lot of drone shots for sure) and my colour range is more natural. I think I started with that when I went to the Lofoten a couple of years ago. I began to experiment with ‘big landscape’ photography there as the majestic landscapes invited me to use a different type of photography style than what I was used to.

"In the end, my goal, and I think it’s most photographers’ goal, is to develop my own style, so that people instantly recognise the style and who took the photo."

Another goal is of course to recreate that specific feeling I had when taking the photo. Every photo is like a small world, confined by the borders of the photo. I want the viewer to be drawn in, to be captivated, if only for a moment. Seeing the beauty in nature I guess has the same effect as seeing art or listening to music; it just creates a sense of well-being. That’s what I’m trying to achieve. It would be wonderful if others could feel the same way by just looking at a photo, though it will never be the same.

Through photography I have discovered my passion for nature, not just to photograph, but also to be outdoors in general. It’s often a specific condition that creates the magic of the moment for a photograph. It can be the morning fog like the one in Alpe di Siusi, the golden hour at sunset, or the clear air right after a thunderstorm. But I love being outdoors in any condition, hiking or doing any other physical exercise.

"The combination of working your cardio in nature is unbeatable and is probably one of the best things you can do for yourself, both for your health and happiness."
