Marco’s affinity for nature led him to capture mountains, streams, and starry skies. Solitude amidst nature invigorates him. He emphasizes breaking routine for true captures, valuing patience, endurance, and growth. Authenticity guides his editing, while a clear vision and preparation shape his shots. Marco envisions a photography profession in the Dolomites, seeking harmony with nature and personal fulfillment.

My fascination with photography emerged after I stepped away from playing the drums. My profound affection for nature and mountains seamlessly led me to landscape photography.

Solitude has always been a sought-after and cherished aspect of my life. Those instances when I’m amidst mountains, by a flowing stream, or under the expanse of a star-studded sky are when I feel most invigorated. The world holds an abundance of beauty waiting to be embraced and to truly capture it requires breaking free from the confines of daily routine. The mountains and nature breathe life into me, defining my authentic self.

The quest for new endeavors and uncharted territories fuels my spirit. I am crafting my photographic perspective of every place I encounter, immersing myself in the experience, and embracing nature’s resonances to the fullest extent possible – its melodies and fragrances. Transforming a lived instant into a timeless memory etched unforgettably in the mind.

Social media also plays a pivotal and ongoing role. Connecting with like-minded individuals across the globe, sharing a common passion, and unveiling novel destinations amplifies the longing to explore incessantly and without end.

I have gravitated toward mountains as my primary photographic focus for the past years. Four central lessons have guided me:

1) Cultivating patience

2) Enduring physical weariness

3) Braving inclement weather for hikes

4) Sustaining a perpetual thirst for improvement

The latter is paramount in my personal and professional journey. Pursuing novel compositions and seizing the “perfect moment” manifests the visualizations and photographic constructs conceived even before departing home. Photography entails more than mere image capture; it’s a comprehensive creative process.

Best of the Week 29

Accompanied by my girlfriend, I persuaded her to spend a night in a tent at Seceda. I had hoped for a rain-free experience to avoid any undue discomfort for her. Regrettably, a storm arrived a few hours before sunset. Despite this setback, I had predetermined the spot for a photograph, where abundant flowers awaited. As the clouds began to disperse, I recognized the emergence of favorable lighting conditions and swiftly approached the chosen location. Nature played its part.

While my girlfriend wasn’t particularly fond of the rain, the beauty of that moment was so profound that I’m certain I’ll be able to entice her to another night under the stars in a tent!

The location holds significant renown and has been extensively captured in photographs. I aimed to deviate slightly from the typical compositions, prompting me to scout for flowers suitable for the foreground. I enjoy incorporating flowers into my photos and experimenting with their forms to attain the perfect arrangement.

Flowers make for excellent close-up elements in landscape photography. Their versatility in composition and color offers limitless potential, which is why the summer season stands as my preferred time for photography.

In my editing process, accentuating the highlights and shadows is the utmost priority. When selecting colors, I must admit that I never distort the natural hues of a scene. I strive to preserve their authenticity. I’m not inclined to manipulate color choices merely to achieve uniformity across my photos. This approach doesn’t resonate with me; each image deserves a unique color treatment. After all, I can’t expect the same shade of green in a local park near my home and in the vast landscapes of Iceland.

My primary objective is to evoke a sense of three-dimensionality within the image, aiming to immerse the viewer within the scene. I provide multiple points of interest to captivate the observer’s attention. Techniques such as multiple rounds of dodge and burn and a subtle Orton effect find their way into all my shots.

A clear vision of the desired shot often streamlines the journey toward achieving set objectives. Pre-planning, envisioning scenes before encountering them, can be significantly advantageous. Learning from accomplished photographers, particularly in the initial stages, aids in shaping one’s interpretive style.

The keystone is undoubtedly composed, complemented by a robust foreground, picturesque location, and the fortune of a vibrantly colored sky. Striving to assemble these elements involves a meticulous study of optimal timings for visiting a place and accounting for weather forecasts – a blend of preparation and hopeful anticipation.

Gazing a decade ahead (with hope, possibly even sooner), I envision myself residing in a quaint village nestled in the cherished Dolomites rather than in bustling Rome. Transitioning my passion for photography into a profession could facilitate this transition. However, I am wary that its enchantment can wane when passion transforms into employment. The intrusion of monetary considerations often alters dynamics. The prospect of living in harmony with nature propels me towards professionalizing photography, far removed from the urban clamor. Nature is where I find myself, where vitality surges through me. Cultivating this connection daily, rather than reserving it for leisure time, is the most significant aspiration in my journey.
