Landscape photographer based in Iceland

My name is Marcin Kurleto and I am a 37-year-old Polish photographer who has been living in Iceland for over a decade. At 21, I moved from Poland to Madrid, Spain. After moving back home, where I couldn’t find myself, I moved to Barcelona for six months.

"At that time, my brother moved to Iceland and he invited me to join."

There I bought my first professional camera and my aim was to learn everything surrounding photography. In addition, I finished successfully my program at the polygraph school, which gave some experience in the printing industry. There I had the opportunity to learn everything about light, colors and much more – this is something I’ve been doing for years actually.

After that I started to travel more in Iceland and abroad. I fell in love with the beautiful wildlife and landscapes of Iceland; Thousands of photographers visit us from around the world to showcase Iceland’s stunning landscapes. And I have had the opportunity to live here for the past decade, doing what I love.

"I believe that the life and moments that I lived led me to where and who I am now."

In photography, I aim for both minimalism and unique perspectives, whether that is a different point of view or change in light or even how I edit. As Gerardo Suter – a photography master – once said: “I didn’t choose photography, photography chose me.”

"Today I can say that photography makes me happy!"

Likewise, traveling makes me richer. I was always seeking to see more of the world and meet new people. As a photographer, I want to showcase the cultures I encounter adding my own perspective. For example, next year in April I am heading to Japan. The Land of the Rising Sun has been a dream destination for my wife and I for many years. We’ll be heading to this beautiful country soon, this is a dream come true! I can’t wait to show my vision of that country.

"In one of my captions I wrote, “love the life you live, live the life you love.” I am reminded about that every day I pick up my camera and travel. You have to go where you feel most alive!"
