My name is Jonas Pfister and I have been lucky enough to grow up in one of the most exciting regions in Europe, Eastern Switzerland. So it is not surprising that our parents took us on family trips around the shimmering waters of Lake Constance or the hilly Appenzellerland. The fabulous descents and wonderful views over the lakes and the mountains are perfect for all skiing, snowboarding and carving fans. In summer days you find many cyclists riding from one fishing village to the next along the shores of Lake Constance or scaling high peaks on a mountain bike…
In 2017 my closest friends inspired my to start documenting my trips. Mixing hiking with photography absolutely blew my mind. Now I had another excuse to wake up for sunrise or wait for the sunset up in the mountains. This is exactly what I love about landscape photography: It is a physical and mental challenge – like running long distances for instance. But in this case, your reward is a beautiful memory and hopefully, a piece of art. I hope I can keep improving my style and that all of you can see it. That will mean that I am in the right direction and that I continue to challenge myself and grow as a person.
Furthermore, I want to inspire people to go out by themselves. When you take a closer look to your surroundings, it is really easy to appreciate and understand a little bit better how special and fragile nature really is.
Thanks to my family, discovering new places has always been an interest of mine. Nowadays I try to travel as much as I can to other parts of the world in pursue of new experiences, lessons and knowledge. There is nothing like traveling the world to master oneself and learn about our Planet and its people!
Among all the places I have visited so far, the Faroe Islands will always have a special place in my heart. I visited this wonderful archipelago with my girlfriend and found tall cliffs, crazy mountains and mesmerizing waterfalls all around the islands. It is a photographer’s paradise! Life seems to be slower on these little islands and their people seem to be really happy, peaceful.
