Visuality and closeness to nature have always been a big part of my life. When I was little, I used to look at nature photos with my grandpa and every nature documentary on television. We wandered together through forests in Central Finland, learning about nature and enjoying the environment. As a little girl, this seemed like a big travel, as well as the trip to Tanzania we made in 2011. At midnight I saw the savannah sky full of stars above me; it was the most beautiful part of the world I had ever seen. Now, several years older, I have already traveled to Asia twice, all alone, and totally outdid myself by getting out of my comfort zone and facing my fears. I guess this has been the best thing I did for myself, and at the same time it has been the springboard to my photography career.
Photography is an amazing invention that holds a magical power to transform the way you see the world. It enables you to share memories all across the globe in fractions of a second. The act of freezing a moment in time has forever changed me, helping me through some challenges in life. There’s something refreshing about going back to my camera roll and see all the good memories I’ve shared with people or even memories I’ve made by myself.
Landscape photography and travelling can be quite challenging at times, both mentally and physically, but no word can describe the feeling of happiness when you break your boundaries and feel successful. For me, the essence is to walk through nature and see the world. I am thirsty for adventure, I want to travel around the world and photograph it as much as I can.
I try to capture the best aspects of my subject and tell the story of each, to describe the world from different angles and make people think deeper than the surface. I hope that everyone could dream a little through my photography and that my pictures inspire others to chase their own dreams. We all have a unique view of the world, and it is just about finding ways to drop our own little pin on the map. Each of us, and each place has a story to tell.
