Photography and traveling changed my life. I met my closest friends through it. And it’s kinda my way to isolate myself from the stress of daily life. Not that I want to run away from something, but sometimes everything is simply too much.
For me being on the road with beloved people always feels like recharging my inner battery.
One of my favorite memories happened in 2016 when we traveled through Scotland. We slept in the car and in our tents, although it rained for days and everything was wet. So, we decided to find a place where we could get a shower and dry everything. We called and visited many accommodations but we could not find a campground, B & B or hotel. Everything was literally booked because of the Highland games!
Suddenly one guy called us back and asked if we found a place for the night. We denied. After asking us how many people we were, he just invited us to stay at his private home.
You just have to imagine that he didn’t know anything about us, four strangers. And he invited us to stay with his wife and his two little kids. They greeted us with tea and cookies and we slept in the kid’s firefighter Sam bed linen.
When we asked why they invited us, his wife replied that it’s her wish that someone would do the same for her children when they would be in the same situation and that we are all humans and have to stick together.
