Landscape photographer based in Germany

My name is Daniel Schrenker and I live in Munich, Germany with my wife and two children. Some of my travel-themed work has been featured in print magazines like Cosmopolitan and today I make a living as a TV Journalist and editor for the Bavarian Public Television. On Instagram, I am also a member of @thewander.co community, where we feature other Instagrammers who inspire us.

Before the age of six, I had lived on three continents. I guess this is the main reason why I never really had a strong urge to travel the world. On the other hand, I didn’t know where my true home was.

Only a few years ago I discovered the real beauty of Bavaria, where I spent most of my youth. Today I am happy to call this place “home”. Above all, I feel blessed because I have the opportunity to capture this amazing region at its best.

I kept my passion to myself way too long, because I feared my photographs weren’t good enough to deserve to be published. I’d tell my younger self that as long as it comes from your heart, creative output will always be good enough and others will recognize it. To quote Wes Anderson’s Rushmore:

“The secret is, you just gotta find something you love to do and then do it for the rest of your life.”

I believe that for someone who loves taking and editing photographs, there’s no greater reward than sharing this love and getting positive feedback on it.

Through photography and my editing style, I try to express myself artistically. To me, that is really less about capturing reality than it is to create an image that enhances the beauty of a past moment. This could be how the light falls on top of a mountain at six in the morning in summer or how a lakeside is reduced to almost abstract structures during wintertime.

"As I continue to explore the Bavarian countryside and elsewhere abroad, I will be chasing the morning light and sharing my work in hopes I inspire others."
