“The main inspiration is imagination, and the main challenge is to create photos that fully match the idea and vision that existed before making it. For me, it’s landscapes that have captured my attention, and I hope to provide an ever-improving quality of photos as time goes by. And maybe, at some point, I will even be able to fully sustain this lifestyle with the help of photography.”

“As a geologist, instead of focusing on the entire scenery, I spend a significant part of my time focusing on every geological detail. For instance, I try to understand what type of rocks I am looking at. It might be difficult to imagine how the rock type can influence photography at first, but it really does.”

“During my studies, I landed a 9-5 finance job, which I eventually quit to pursue my passion for art and photography because I felt trapped and unfulfilled. When I decided I couldn’t waste more time in a corporate job, I simply told myself to get a one-way ticket and see the options that were out there. I have spent countless hours scouting and photographing all the locations intensively, using the best time of the day for each spot and flying from island to island.”

“I remember we had a large closet in my parents’ house filled with photos from birthday parties, trips, or activities alike, and as a child, I liked to stare at them a lot, bringing those photos alive in my mind. Having access to so many memories is a gift. Maybe, it is a little bit just like looking at the Milky Way – when we gaze up into the night sky, we are looking into the past because of the finite speed of light.”

“My love of photography has also evolved from my love of painting. I have found that editing photos can feel akin to painting, shaping the image to my liking, sculpting with light and shadow, adding an artistic touch to reality. The technique of chiaroscuro in painting – to use strong contrasts between light and dark – inspires me a lot.”
