Travel photographer based in Italy

“My name is Andy Johanesen and I am from Newcastle, NSW, Australia. I became passionate about travel in 2012 after traveling to Bali and Cambodia. Since then I have lived five of the past seven years overseas, immersing myself in different cultures, environments, and ways of life. Currently my fiancée and I are living in Cervinia, Northern Italy, which is on the border of Switzerland.

"You may have seen the video of the couple proposing on the cliff in Norway, that was us!"

My two sole passions in life are travel & photography. I’ve always enjoyed the adrenaline-filled activities and snowboarding was the main direction of my first few years of travels living in Canada for two winters, and Japan and Italy for one season each. A close third is my passion for snowboarding. I love the mountains, endless peaks, climbing / hiking / snowboarding, and photography, it’s all there for me.

Photography was something that evolved for me as my travels and love for the world grew deeper. I started to appreciate the small things a little more after my first trip to Yosemite National Park in 2014. The majestic beauty of the valley, lush nature and thundering waterfalls had me hooked within the hiking/nature community and shortly after photography followed.

"In 2017 I picked up my camera and really begun to create content beyond the general traveler."
"My ultimate goal when sharing a photograph is to simply capture a small piece of time and share it with the wider community."

Ideally, I would love to inspire others to get out, enjoy life and explore this beautiful country, if they pick up a camera too as a result of seeing my photography that would be very humbling also.

I’m definitely more drawn to the mountains more so than the coast, home is where the mountains are!
