My name is Andrés Clausen and I am a photographer and a medical student. Since a really young age I was always the one running around with the camera taking pictures of everything. As Robert Adams once said: “No place is boring, if you have had a good night’s sleep and have a pocket full of unexposed film.” This is exactly what I try to show with my photography. Everyday we come across memorable moments. With the right mindset, it is possible to capture many of them!

As I grew older I began to plan my own trips and tried to improve my skills. Last summer I was able to finally purchase a professional camera. This has been an important investment which has allowed me to move forward as a visual creator. Even if everyday I work hard to improve my skills, I believe that what makes a picture great is not the edit or the subject, but the moment and emotions the artist tries to convey.

Sometimes you take a picture for the sake of it and don’t realize you took an incredible shot until later. I like candid photos much more than poses because they convey the moment, not a forced composition that was somehow created. The randomness and spontaneity of things have always attracted me way more.

The experiences, memories, and things you learn on a trip will never equal any amount of money anyone can give you. Traveling lends perspective and you learn to appreciate what you have and view the world through others’ eyes. “Much in life is simply a matter of perspective. It’s not inherently good or bad, a success or failure; it’s how we choose to look at things that makes the difference!”
