My name is Alessandro Sgro and I am an Italian 27-year-old photographer. As you will discover along this story, I had to wait almost 25 years to find my passions – travel and photography. If you are searching for your passion, traveling is probably the best way to open the eyes to all your interests. So keep that in mind!

Already in my childhood my family and I traveled every year to Sicily, Italy. So, traveling has been present in my life for a significant amount of time. Yet, it was my trip to New York that changed my life. I could say that it was a tipping point.

New York is a city of dichotomies. It is humbling and inspiring at the same time. Just like backpacking the world, the Big Apple is exhausting and exhilarating. I must admit that I fell in love with these mixed feelings.

So, after this experience I decided that I wanted to travel to as many places as possible. If New York made me feel those particular emotions, what other sensations could I have traveling around a completely different country?

"I grabbed my backpack and traveled around Thailand for a month to figure that out."

Quite often Thailand is referred to as the Land of Smiles, I completely agree with that. Why?

Well, on my way back home I felt true happiness knowing that I had finally found my passion. Thailand played a significant role in this regard, so I will always remember this enchanting country with a big smile.

More recently, about two years ago, my friend Max and I began to take photography more seriously. At the beginning we focused mainly on people and fashion. But, when I captured my first landscape photos in a trip to Iceland, I knew that this was the style I wanted to focus on. Ever since I try to go out as much as I can.

The forest surrounding my town has become my favorite playground. It is quite amazing how many things can happen in the wild, even if it is a relatively small area. Observing nature became like a therapy to me. In my opinion this is one of the most relaxing things you can do.

It is this curiosity for the world and for nature what keeps pushing and inspiring me to become a better photographer. Through my art I want to share with everyone how beautiful our world is and how lucky we are to call this planet our home.

"So I truly hope we can all come together to fight against climate change and protect Earth’s wildlife."

If I can inspire others to go outdoors, even better! You have all the reasons in the world to make your live awesome. So, if you are reading this, take advantage of social media and connect with people, plan a trip and see what the world can offer you! You will not regret it. I promise you that!
