Best of the week 43 at #nomadict

After graduating Vocational High School, I got inspired by many foreign photographers who created extraordinary works. I started with discovering places and unique views in the city and until now I try to find and capture the best ones. I am still learning every day, practicing and photographing. It helps a lot to share knowledge among other local and foreign photographers; it enhances the skills and together you find more diverse spots and views to photograph.

This is also what I enjoy most; finding cool new spots, creating experiences and gain inspiration. Though I would say that, for me, meeting new friends is the most valuable aspect of photography. And of course it’s a perfect way to immortalize a memory;

"I can capture a moment and look back at it any day, enabling me to recall these special moments beyond my brain’s memory."

However, a picture is not the essential aspect to memorize a moment. For example, I took some shots when I visited Mount Bromo, East java, while it was erupting. It was a very precious moment and I wanted to take as much photos as possible for the client I was with. However, I didn’t focus on the moment itself, on the beauty of the phenomenon. I would love to go back in time and experience it again, balancing taking photos and enjoying the moment through my own eyes, being fully present.

"With the photos I take, I want to demonstrate the beauty of this Earth and invite people to discover the places I have photographed."

What is also important for me, is that I can help local people improving their welfare by showing tourists the places to visit around here in Java. Posting my photos on my Instagram account contributes a little to this as well. With my edits I try to align the tone in my feed, to enhance the photo by making it distinctive, interesting and wild.

If you enjoy Riki's art, you can get your own print!
