Best of the week 38 at #nomadict

I come from the west coast of British Columbia which is one of the 13 Provinces and Territories within Canada. British Columbia is incredibly massive! Just the province alone is almost 4 times the size of the UK! Adding the fact that British Columbia is 75% mountains will give an idea of how much exploration one can do here.

Initially I was never very interested in the style of hiking/trekking/photography that I have been doing recently. I’ve actually only been doing this for 10 months so far. I started off going to film school and from there, I started working my way up in some bigger budget union films. I’ve found myself working along some pretty big “A” list actors but that’s pretty much a given if you work in film.

"As cool as that is, I still much prefer to be up in the mountains any day over working on set."

In the meantime, I bought an off road 4×4 a month ago, which pretty much unlocks many of the hard to reach locations in B.C. I’ve only used it a couple times so far. Unfortunately Canada gets very cold, the risk of snow and avalanche danger is very real so depending on where you go you only have 2-3 months of the year to explore some locations.

I know a bunch of winter spots I plan on visiting, but I have to admit that I’m focusing my planning mostly on next years summer already. I’m planning to cover all kinds of spots such as The Bugaboos, The Rocky Mountains, Jasper, The Oregon Coast, The Canadian and American Cascades, and loads of spots in Alberta, just to name a handful.

"I’m very grateful for the small community I have gained over the past little bit. It really helps to give me an extra motive to continue doing what I am doing."
"As I said, I do this only for fun; I don’t have someone funding any of my trips other than myself. In the end this is all for the thrill of it!”
