My name is Marco Rocchigiani and I am a photography enthusiast, who is exploring the outdoors to feel free. Since I was a child, I had an interest in photography. But I never took the art seriously. You would have found me playing around with a compact camera, creating fun pictures or portraying beautiful scenery. My parents were, and still are, photography enthusiasts like I am. We would frequently travel throughout Europe in our camping car, which was the cherry on top.
Four years ago, I moved to Japan and have half-transformed my car into a camping car, so I can more easily go out and explore the island, being in certain locations at the right time. In Japan, I was able to purchase my first camera and take the game seriously. What, in particular, inspired me to take photography seriously is the flourishing, rough and stunning landscapes Japan has to offer. And I’m not talking about Japanese cities like Tokyo, Kyoto and other big cities nor traditional temples and districts, I’m talking about a face of Japan not many happen to know:
I remember that time when my friend and I went out for a few days exploring the peaks of the Japanese Alps. It was no doubt one of the most exciting, adventurous and trilling trips I’ve ever had. During this trip I was able to keep up and push my creativity to the limit. We camped on top of mountains with arctic temperatures, we braved the elements for the sake of adventure, seeking the shot we wanted to take, knowing that nobody would’ve stopped us.
I keep traveling and exploring because it quite simply helps me feel free. On top of that, I believe that nothing makes me happier than discovering new places, enjoying the unexpected, and meeting new people on the road.
