My name is Marc Haldeman and I am a Swiss landscape photographer and designer based out of Zurich, Switzerland. Over the past few years I have been dedicated to earning a Master’s degree in product design, as well as gaining professional experience in the field.
As a family we would spend many holidays hiking and traveling. Initially, I had a compact camera to capture these moments on family holidays. I used it to purely document my travels but eventually I got really interested about photography, specially when I started to use my father’s old Sony SLR camera.
However, as time went on, I put the camera away and dedicated myself to design and architecture. Yet, I figured out that both travel and photography were essential to me.
So, what you see in my photography nowadays is a result of these things. My photography portfolio showcases excerpts from landscapes, which are dedicated to spatial elements in nature with minimalist tendencies. It’s a combination of forms, colors, and structures that have become my passion. I am very fascinated by barren and solitary landscapes. The more extreme and hostile the landscapes are, the better I like it.
In February I returned from an extensive four-month trip through parts of Africa and South America. Traveling is so incredibly exciting, because you experience so many new and different things. You relate to people who are different and develop a great respect for other cultures.
When I take pictures sometimes people come up to me and ask what I am doing here. Often the result is an exciting conversation about their place and I discover a view of things I would otherwise not experience as a “stranger.” It’s great to be able to combine these little moments with my passion for photography.
