Landscape photographer based in Denmark

My name is Christina Gamborg and I am a 30-year-old nature photographer based in Denmark. I also work as an anthropologist and business consultant. In 2018 I took a leave of absence from the consulting business, moved to Greenland and Iceland for a year and that is when I became passionate about photography.

I have had the opportunity to explore amazing places throughout the Nordic and Arctic regions. As an anthropologist – and human being – I really appreciate the chance to understand a country and its people, so I stay for quite a long time when I travel.

"More recently, I spent nine months in Iceland and had an incredible time."

My passion for photography is relatively new. Last year I picked up a camera when I moved to Greenland because I thought it was too stunning not to capture on camera. Photography became my way of sharing amazing moments with the people I love, even though they were far away across the Atlantic.

"And then obviously that passion has just grown stronger ever since."

I really want the person looking at my photographs to feel a connection with nature. The same connection you gain through eye contact. Most of all I want my pictures to create awareness of how awesome and beautiful nature is. To me nature is not something that we travel to visit, it is a part of who we are, all the time. And that relationship needs as much attention in an everyday, busy lifestyle that most of us are part of.

I always want more experiences of how the wind and the sounds of the North Sea in Denmark makes my heart beat harder. More of the mood of historic presence when riding a horse in the Icelandic highlands. And more of the unique silence when fishing for cod in the Greenlandic midnight sun.

"I can never get enough of that."
"I really can’t imagine life now without exploring and sharing moments through photography. I just seriously love it."

To me it’s not a matter of exploring an extreme destination, but more a feeling of connecting with whatever is around me. I will never stop exploring the nature surrounding me and I will do my very best to share these moments and my own appreciation for all of these everyday adventures.

I am definitely very fascinated by the way people up North seem to have a strong connection to nature and how that connection affects their approach to life in general. Living in such harsh weather conditions really makes you realize and accept how incredibly strong the forces of nature truly are, and what you have to do to live under those terms.
