Landscape photographer based in Iceland

My name is Gaui H. Pic and I am a photographer from Reykjavik, Iceland. My passion for traveling and photography comes from the feeling of freedom. It’s that feeling that I get when I am out there, whether that is in Iceland or the Faroe Islands or on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

"It gives me a sense of euphoria. I feel free!"

It’s thanks to my grandparents that I have this much passion for my work. They gave me my first camera when I was nine years old. When I share my work on social media, my goal is to show viewers the beauty of our planet. Sometimes I will try a different angle or a different style to locations I frequently visit! Or I go back to the same place two days in a row to catch different angles and light.

One night I was traveling on the south coast of Iceland. It was three o’clock in the morning, when I decided to head out to the one of the amazing glaciers here on Iceland. Soon after I arrived to the location, the northern lights started to appear. It’s one of the most amazing sights I have ever seen.

"There was absolute silence. I swear I could hear them crackle. That night was one of a kind!"
"Nowadays I feel really lucky because I work as a travel photographer. That’s what I live for!"

Working in photography and videography has given me so much. Sometimes traveling is hard and tiring, but the reward is always worth it. It’s the places you visit and the people you meet on the journey that makes it worthwhile. If you are able to combine your passion, work and social life, I ask: what can be better than that?

If you have a vision of what your life and career are supposed to look like, follow your dreams. You can learn from others that have taken the same journey: listen to them, watch their videos, ask for help. Just know that if you have a dream, it can come true. Go after it with all your power!
