I’m Kasey Mantiply, I’m a 21 year old travel and adventure photographer based out of California. My passion for adventure has always been a part of me, my father has been taking me backpacking in the wilderness around California since I was 5 years old and that sparked my passion for conservation as well. I wanted to learn more about the earth, so when I was 14 years old I travelled to a new country for the first time by myself. I went to Iceland to study under geologists. The entire trip was inspiring, but one thing that stuck out to me was that I wanted to take photos of everything I was seeing. I didn’t have a camera, so the first thing I did when I returned home was buy one.
Everywhere I go I see everything in pictures, even walking down the street, and I wouldn’t change that for anything. Traveling and taking photos of my adventures has helped me learn to live in the moment, soaking up every aspect of life as much as I can, such as the moment at the lake that won the best of the week. This lake shot is one of my favorites because the experience behind it is so memorable. I was on a road trip with some friends and we went camping. We woke up before sunrise and started canoeing on the lake in the early morning mist, all while having the place all to ourselves! I wanted the portray a feeling of how it felt to be there in that moment, in the quiet, calm surrounding.
Every photo I have taken has a story behind it that makes it special to me, but it’s always intriguing to hear what other people see in them. Through all of my photos and travels, I have met amazing people, and had incredible experiences both big and small. Overall I want my photos to inspire others to get outside of their comfort zones, explore new places, and most importantly be respectful of the environment!
