I’ve had a love for travel ever since I was a kid. I was born in Taiwan but grew up in the US, so my summers were spent traveling back and spending time with family in Taiwan. I think that really sparked my love for travel, nature and experiencing different cultures.
How do I feel when I am outdoors, alone, surrounded by the wild?
It’s the greatest feeling in the world. There’s something so calming and meditative about being in nature. It’s just woven into our DNA. I think the most excited I ever get is when there’s a killer sunset in the mountains. Sheesh, those days are good.
One of my first big trips was to Iceland in 2015. I believe the best moments are not really about the scenery but about the people I’m with at that time. But in Iceland I had both, great friends and incredible landscapes!
Along these past years I have worked hard in order to improve my technique. One of the most important things I have learned is that conveying emotion is all about connecting with the viewer. Just like a story, each photo should have a subject and story. I try to include a person in photos just so viewers can get a sense of scale, but also be able to imagine themselves as the person in the photo.
Traveling has given me the opportunity to connect with people from all around the world, to see different cultures and be more empathetic and understanding.
