Landscape photographer based in Austria

My name is Sebastian Hönigsperger and I am an Austrian travel photographer. When I was only eight years old, I began exploring my grandparent’s garden with a camera, getting the best shots of indigenous birds and insects. I also borrowed my father’s digicam and gave it a shot – literally! Last May, I bought my first camera and became obsessed with photography. If I were to choose a moment to go back in time, I would ensure I never set aside my camera as a kid.

"Because that is time I can’t get back."

As a kid I used to travel with my parents on many trips, including all-inclusive resort vacations. Once I was able to travel independently, I became more adventurous and decided to roam my own country. Eventually I began to travel abroad and discovered how exciting our world really is. It was so refreshing getting know different cultures and understanding their way of living life.

"As I explored different parts of the world, photography became central to my trips - allowing me to be creative and experience the places I visited with a different mindset."

Today, I consider that the most important thing about being a storyteller on social media is authenticity. It’s the experience you gain when you climb a mountain, fight through thick scrub using your bare hands or wait for hours to get a glimpse of a wild living animal. The photo you choose to expose is just the end of an even more interesting story. But, who wants to know just the end of a story? I wouldn’t! For me it is important to give at least some impression of the outcome to accompany the picture and make it even more interesting.

Ultimately, my goal in sharing my work on social media is to show people who can’t afford traveling the beauty of our planet and to raise awareness regarding humankind’s biggest issue: climate change. Through my photography work, I want to convey how important it is to protect our precious planet and provoke some individuals not to litter the environment or take their bike from time to time.

"Go outside and roam peeps!"
