As a little boy I spent hours and hours browsing through those breathtaking pictures of National Geographics and alike. But I was far from pursuing a path in photography myself. I didn’t even own a camera. Later I studied business and economics and worked as a sales manager.
About two and a half years ago I moved into a Volkswagen Van. With that rusty, old thing I drove from Mexico City to the arctic circle. The further north I came the more I felt like going home. This endless vast mountains and forests called out to me. And I knew I had found where I belong: The northern wild.
With a cheap camera and an even cheaper lens I started shooting. Since that day five years have passed. In that time I learned a lot. I struggled and I learned some more. Today I’m still learning but I can see the fruits of my endurance. It’s still a long road ahead of me but it is the right one. That I know for certain.
A camera allows us to open up a gate into another world. To reveal the secretive life of the fleeting shadows in the forest. To capture a reflection of beauty and to preserve it for eternity.
