My passion for photography and travel was born during high school. I was learning the basics of photography as I had already an interest in visual creation. And then, I was taking photos while traveling in Summer with friends, combining the two activities and transforming them into what became one single passion.
I studied Graphic Design, and meanwhile I have been developing my photography through online tutorials, targeted courses and a lot of passion. I also keep myself updated with magazines dedicated to photography. Though in the end I do not consider myself a photographer, but a graphic designer who travels and loves to photograph. I have been a graphic designer for many years now and between one shot and the next I can turn my photos into prints for both myself and some of my clients.
When I edit a photo I try to represent the sensations that I felt at the moment of the photo; if I was joyful I would use bright colors, while if I felt in awe of the nature and its power, I would use dramatic colors. What matters in a photo is what it conveys; at has to transmit emotion. In my opinion, the nordic landscape is the master of the dramatic and impressive landscapes, awakening many emotions within. This is also why I like to say that “The energy of the Planet comes from the North”.
I know that the climate can be harsh and negative, but this does not weigh me. I like to go into the wilderness, stay in total solitude and look for the perfect shot. Sometimes it’s a personal challenge with what you find, even if nature always wins, but trying to understand it is one of my goals. I love loneliness because it allows me to find myself and makes me feel good.
I believe that once you got to these places and saw what’s so special about it, you will understand me and all the other photographers, who go there for work, but also to detach themselves from noisy cities, get away from the ‘usual’ to dedicate themselves to something worth facing, admiring, photographing, despite the challenges coming with it.
I particularly love landscape, nights photography and long exposures because this type of photography tests you in every single shot. Each second counts, because everything can change. Climate and light are unpredictable game changers. The fact that this is your decision is exciting; it’s not always possible to get the perfect shot, but when you got it and the result is excellent… that provides me with an enormous satisfaction I can’t describe.
Photography brought me in the last 14 months from Iceland, to Lofoten, to the hills of the Val d’Orcia in Tuscany, to the streets of the Medina of Marrakech, to the oceans of Portugal, Spain and France, and last but not least, to Lapland. Not even talking about my trips to Svalbard and Nepal, that are awaiting me this year. I am grateful I could capture all these places; these trips helped me improve my photography, learning various techniques and how to amaze people with the ordinary. Maybe the most important though, is that photography and my travels have made me realize many things about our world, contributing positively to my personal development as well, which is a way of learning incomparable to any other method.
