My name is Luca J Peterson and I’m a photographer and filmmaker from Yorkshire, United Kingdom. At the age of 12, I first traveled to the city of Rome and this was the first time I fell in love with a location: its architecture and its culture, the fact that these incredible structures have seen so much history play out in front of them and remain standing is unbelievable! This is also why I love landscape photography. These places act as bystanders watching the world unfold and remain unchanged, it’s incredible.

Ever since then I do this with every place I visit. I think how it would have been hundred or thousands of years ago and this makes me think about the location more. To this day, Italy remains one of my favorite countries in the world.
If I were able to go back in time, it would be to the moment I first became inspired to pursue this craft. It was the feeling of finding something I truly love and continue to love each day. I am lucky to have found something I love so young and I am fortunate about that. I now just want to evolve my skills in this craft, and explore new ways of doing things by meeting and collaborating with others. We are lucky to have an abundance of information around via the internet, so there are endless opportunities to learn new things and almost everyone is connected.

This is part of the reason I also got into visual art, I’d like to inspire the creativity of imagination and teach people the skills they need to advance in photography and visual art. Something I love to portray in my work is scale, to truly show how small we are as humans compared to the world around us.
"Without traveling I think you would be missing out on a lot that the world has to offer and, conversely, missing out on what you can give to the world."
One of my favorite things about traveling is finding unique places that aren’t really mapped out as main tourist destinations, although, I still do love these destinations. I love experiencing different cultures and the people that live in these places, I believe, the more people you meet and connect with, the more you evolve as a person.
