Photography & Videography
Faroe Islands Workshop

We will explore a wide range of locations across the archipelago—from towering sea cliffs and mist-filled fjords to windswept valleys, remote villages, and powerful North Atlantic coastlines shaped by light, weather, and scale.

Between field sessions, we’ll gather for class-based lectures to dive into the technical, creative, and ethical aspects of landscape and travel photography, with a strong emphasis on visual storytelling, decision-making in the field, and working with challenging conditions.

This is a workshop that follows the real rhythm of a photographer at work—embracing flexibility, adapting to rapidly shifting weather and light, and learning to anticipate and seize the strongest moments as they unfold.

The workshop in detail

Capture the breathtaking landscapes of the Faroe Islands

We will embark on an unforgettable expedition to capture the dramatic landscapes of the Faroe Islands, where towering sea cliffs, deep fjords, windswept valleys, and the raw power of the North Atlantic converge.

Ronald, with over two decades of experience in photography and filmmaking, will guide you through some of the archipelago’s most photogenic locations. You will learn how to create high-quality imagery that reflects the scale, atmosphere, and changing light of the Faroe Islands, while also discovering lesser-known locations carefully chosen for their visual and narrative potential.

In addition, you will gain practical insights into capturing compelling landscapes and seascapes with both camera and drone, working safely and responsibly in demanding conditions. Expect an adventurous journey as we explore the Faroe Islands at their most powerful and atmospheric.

Location
scouting and preparation

You will learn how to plan and execute successful photo and video shoots that align with your creative vision, from pre-visualization to on-location decision-making.

Ronald will share his proven scouting techniques, research workflows, and strategies for identifying the strongest compositions, light, and conditions across the Faroe Islands’ varied and demanding landscapes.

A key focus will be learning how to interpret rapidly changing weather systems, wind patterns, ocean swells, tides, and cloud formations—essential skills in a North Atlantic environment where conditions can shift dramatically within minutes.

By the end of the workshop, you will have a clear understanding of how, where, and when to capture the Faroe Islands at their most powerful and atmospheric, with confidence both in planning and in the field.

Shooting on location: photography & videography

You will learn how to maximize your existing gear while working on location in some of the Faroe Islands’ most iconic and lesser-known locations.

We will teach you how to create high-end landscape and seascape imagery with both camera and drone, capturing the dynamic interplay of light, wind, ocean swells, and dramatic coastal terrain.

You’ll gain practical, insider insights into producing cinematic visuals with a strong sense of scale, atmosphere, and movement—imagery designed to translate seamlessly from digital platforms to large-format displays.

In addition, we will cover an efficient and repeatable workflow for drone footage, helping you consistently produce professional-grade content suited for personal projects, editorial use, or client work.

Video and photo editing

We will guide you through the editing process using Lightroom and DaVinci Resolve to bring your Faroe Islands imagery to life, with a strong emphasis on mood, tonal control, and visual coherence.

You will learn how to further develop your personal photography style, with Ronald sharing his most valuable insights—drawn from over two decades of experience in photography and filmmaking, including work on documentaries and large-scale productions, as well as building social media channels reaching over 1.4 million followers.

We will also explore how editing can be used as a powerful branding tool, helping you create a consistent visual identity and make your work stand out through practical, customized examples tailored to your goals.

Finally, we will cover advanced editing techniques to maximize the potential of your drone footage and still images, ensuring your visuals not only look polished, but also communicate atmosphere, scale, and story with clarity and intent.
