Nature, a vitamin for the soul!

With Daniel Koehalmi (@daniel_koehalmi)

My name is Daniel Koehalmi and I am a landscape photographer based in Munich, although I am originally from Hungary. I would like to open this story saying that I consider myself a very lucky person.

As a child I was lucky to have two loving parents with whom I traveled all over the world to see everything we could. That is priceless!

As a result, today I have this great desire to travel and explore new places. I am also a big fan of people, so getting to know new cultures is something I really enjoy as well. Actually, all these things are vital to me, so I am really thankful for this beautiful gift that my parents gave me.

"Today I would like to put out there the following question: How many of you are familiar with the feeling of emptiness? And, how many of you can relate to it?"

Not that long ago that feeling of emptiness was part of my life. At the beginning I thought everything was fine. At least that is what I wanted to believe and used to say to myself. But, so to say, I was faced with a challenge: I had to figure out why and what exactly was the cause of such feeling. Figuring that out was a challenge because at the time I had a good professional career, a very well paid job and a meaningful relationship.

It took me a while to realize that my professional career was not meeting my deepest needs as a living being. I did not know what the purpose of my life was.

Fortunately, going outdoors and hiking had a positive impact when it came to finding myself. In my opinion, those moments spent in the wild are the best times to be alone with your thoughts and deeply connect with nature.

"Today, that is my remedy and therapy to all my negative thoughts."

So I began to go outdoors more often and eventually I found photography to be a perfect complement to my trips. My good friend Gergo (@gergok), who I met hiking the Zugspitze (the highest peak of Germany) had a significant influence in this regard.

As I explored what for me were new and beautiful “worlds”, I felt the urgency to immortalize all the unique moments I was living.

"The Alps, which are close to where I live, were my first true inspiration".

During my long hikes I figured out that being creative was important to me. I was missing this part in my life and photography allowed me to figure that out. So I began to create and share my work. Today I aim to convey my emotions through photography and videography.

"I hope I can inspire others so they can also find their purpose in life."

Realizing that was huge for me. Ever since all I want to do is learn, share my knowledge and connect with other like minded people to keep growing as an artist.

All this lead me to the following conclusion: “I need to change!”

I gave up a very well paid job and I decided to take a sabbatical. Now I have time to focus on myself and my next projects, trying to constantly learn and improve my artistic work.

As a result of my endeavors and thanks to @nomadict, here you can watch one of my latest creations!
